Cooling: 4 inch inline huricane
Soil: FFOF, work castings, perlite
Pot size: #3 planter pot from home depot

01/25/2016: seeds germinated and broke ground. Seeds started in jiffy pot with seedling soil from wal-mart.

01/29/2016: Transplanted to #3 pots.

02/02/2016: Soil appears dry. Watered plants with about 1/2 gallon spring water each. Fungus gnats present. Ordered Microbe-lift from ebay.

02/14/2016: Watered each with 1/2 gallon ph adjusted water, 6.25. Added 2 drops microbe-lift to water. Tucked fan leaves under the bud sites where possible.
One plant grew into the cfl while i was at work and burned the tips of 2 leaves.

02/22/2016: Beginning week 4

02/23/2016: Wilted. Watered with 6.45 ph water and 50% strength veg nutrients. Perked up by mid day 2/24.

02/26/2016: Watered with 1/4 veg and 1/4 bloom. Plants beginning to show nitrogen deficiency with lower leaves beginning to yellow.
Thanks for the help today Wisher.

02/27/2016: Fed 1/4 gallon each full strength veg to try to correct nitrogen problem. Plants continue to grow rapidly. Trying to keep the light 20 inches from plants, but they have been growing about an inch per day. May need to LST the next grow to maintain smaller size.

Things I've learned so far:

- I should Probably use pots bigger than #3. I can see the roots in the drain holes of the pots at week #5.
- I should start feeding nutrients before week #4 to avoid nitrogen deficiency
- I should start the seeds in the pot that will be their final home rather than transplant seedlings. I didn't have any issues transplanting, but it's just easier.
- More light equals more need for nutrients
- Night time droop seems to be normal for my plants
- Hps plus bigger plants equals less time between watering

i would suggest transplanting over starting in final homes its much harder to control soil moisture in larfer pots with tiny plants. i fedllike transplantibg makes it so you can chexk out tge root devekopment

02/29/2016: Feeling light again at 2pm. Watered with 1.5 gallons 6.20 ph water each. Runoff remains in the 6.20-6.30 range. Added 3.5 ml bloom nutrients and 1.5 ml veg nutrients to each gallon of water for a total of 5 ml per gallon, which would be full strength. The green leaves seem to be a little darker, but the yellowed ones remain yellow. No further progression of yellow up either plant though. I think the bump up in nutrients, especially nitrogen, has helped.

It those were my plants I would squeeze and bend the stems on those main tops. You might have to support them the frist day or two but I will even out the canopy and allow you to get the light that much closer. More intense light for the lowers. But understand if you don't. Its always good to open up the plant by stretching out those side branches with string or yoyos also

It's not too late to manipulate the main stem like that?

Nah if your gentle enough it won't even notice. I'm not talking the middle of base, just the top top. But yea looking close its a lil bit far along but I wouldn't be scared to do it. But never to late to spread the lower branches out. I really like to keep as even a canopy as possible. Like on my profile pic.

I've just germinated two other seeds under CFL. Pyramid White Widow auto and Green Crack auto. I plan on training those two early. My tent is just over 5 ft tall, so I'm running out of vertical room. Between the cool tube light and the height of the planting pot there's not a lot of room left for a safe zone between the plants and light.

I would be more gentle with the auto till you get a feel for them. Depending on the strain they can be really sensitive. I recommend a fim instead of topping. And lst.

I plan on LST for the two seedlings. I've read that topping an auto isn't good. What is "fim"?

I've started opening the canopies with fishing line and Christmas ornament hooks.
