7 years ago I was gifted some GDP seeds. After growing, drying and curing that wonderful grape smell/taste reminded me of the first time I puffed this strain 20 years ago.

The one thing I noted is the 3 distinct phenos. Green, mix and full on purple.
Granddaddy purple the purple pheno

Granddaddy purple the purple pheno 2

Granddaddy purple the purple pheno 3

While all 3 show purple in the flowers, especially during colder weather the purple pheno is stunning, but what's more is the grape smell/taste is stronger in the purple plants.

I've been breeding this strain focusing on the purple pheno trying to set this purple line and I may finally have succeeded with the latest generation.
Granddaddy purple the purple pheno 4

Granddaddy purple the purple pheno 5
Granddaddy purple the purple pheno 6
Granddaddy purple the purple pheno 7

I planted 10 and all 10 popped and all 10 have the distinctive purple stems.

Seeds were planted 4/17 and popped 5 days later 4/22. I'll be transplanting them into solo cups in the next couple days and updating often.

I'll be growing them out in 3 gal pots of coconut coir with MasterBlend nutrients in a greenhouse and breeding the best male and female outside.

Pull up a seat and enjoy the purple plants

That’s just beautiful! The male purple ball sacks and all. Great pictures

Impressive stuff, man.
Thank you both but I'm just minimally observant and know what I like, especially when it comes to our favorite plant😉

She's an easy one to grow and I've always got one going. I kept one clone from last year (the rest I harvested Nov 6, 2023 that I've been smoking recently) that I'll take cuts from to cross back with the new seedlings. Also i kept 2 Blueberry Hash Plants that caught my fancy last year and 2 hemp 18% CBD Cherry Wines that I've kept going past several years as the seeds on the Cherry Wine were hard to get started when first received. 4 of 40 popped and all 4 females. I make a coconut oil based THC/CBD cream for my wife's neuropathy pain and need to keep this gem going so...

I haven't recorded a grow here in a while. This purple GDP has been a 7 year labor of love with incredible benefits💜

Is this going to be your log for the GDPs? Im going to fallow along : ) got a thing for the GDPs😍
In the language of my people of sunny so cal, Si. I haven't seen many GDP's that had purple leaves and all so yeah🤣

A few shots from last year's grow

I haven't run out of this smoke in many years. It never gets old no matter which pheno and always welcome.

I do like to try a new strain or two every year like that BBHP last year. This year it's Starry Eyed fems, freebies from a Freak Genitics purchase. Got 1 of 3 seeds popped
20240424 181551

so I'll take a few cuts to grow out. Very different from my favorite grape strain and no doubt a keeper. All his stuff that I've grown has been good and unique but GDP is every single year, 24/7 until I can no longer grow it😉

From 10 to 9 seedlings, a snail got one. Happens. I'll put them in solo's this afternoon as it's warm and sunny today. It's not near as difficult as actually transplanting and why I love using the small peat pots but still I want to be gentle and not have them wilt.

BUT I did find a few picts from 2022 on my old phone.

I breed them outside against the house or on the patio by the pool so my greenhouse doesn't end up with pollen everywhere.

With seedlings it seem to take forever, especially with the crap weather we've been having the past couple weeks. Hopefully we'll get back to normal here in sunny so cal.

Have I mentioned I LOVE this strain yet? Just checking😏

A weak one got culled
Got my peppers started.
20240428 164245

Jalapeno and Serranos. I make a killer fermented green sauce that goes on anything from chips to tacos to burritos.

Leaf Cilantro

and Coriander-no pic

Catnip

Tomato cuttings

And I was putting the seedlings back into my seed popper/cloner and thought I'd share it again. It's been a bit.

I got this 17 gallon plastic tank
20240425 165105

part of an old water softening unit that a client removed. I built a PVC frame, wrapped it in plastic and made a door. Put an aquarium heater and pump put the seedlings or cuts inside. You could even do this in a garage (add a light) or cold room.

An aquarium would of course Aldo work. Cover the sides to reduce alge growth. One can usually find a used 10 gallon or larger pretty cheap.

I wish I had made it larger as every spring I'm trying to pop 200+ seeds and it gets crowded.

Those are some dark looking plants! I've grown GDP a few times myself. First time I ever smoked purple weed was GDP. I actually have some F2 GDP seeds in my collection that a friend of mine produced on Molokai back in 2012ish. Hopefully I'll get around to popping them eventually.

I can't recommend it enough. That grape and berries really does it for me as well as that indica high. Getting old lots of pain. This stuff helps.

Tomato cuts taken 4/18
20240429 083147

3 went into 3 gallon soil pots

GDP's doing okay
20240429 083048

Slow growth due to lack of light with overcast skies since popping until yesterday.

GDP winter mom from the greenhouse
20240428 192016

Moved her outside with last years peppers plants. She's got a little PM and a few spider mites so she'll get treated this evening. I had a Blueberry Hash Plant flower there last fall.

I've got slugs/snails pretty bad so i have to protect seedlings
20240428 192258

with copper pipe. Copper and bait are the only things I've found to work. Braided copper around stems of small plants keep them at bay.

I took a snail and placed it on a copper pipe last year and you could see it didn't like it. It could crawl a little but then retracted into it's shell.

I've lost 200+ seedlings of various plants in spring several times through the years so I've got a real dislike of these slimey creatures and dream about electrifying the copper🤬

When you got stuff in the greenhouse are you using supplemental lighting?

Si. Regular 9 Watt LED bulbs with the defuser removed. Come on 5am (it was 4 before the time change) and off at 8pm and off during the day 9am-6pm when it's sunny like yesterday and today and hopefully from here on out through Fall. Keeps the plants in veg but they try and flower. I've got 26 strawberry plants that are producing better than any year before due to the added lights
20240424 182712
20240420 151110

Collecting 18-24 berries every other day. Was down to 4 plants end of fall last year and then they all produced runners and runners and now have 26 and
20240420 162252

one new one for 27. This is the only runner this spring so I kept it. I had planned to clip any but I'm gooey inside sometimes🤣

This fall I hope to double the amount of plants and plant a 5 x 5' soil box (they're in coco) and keep the two 2 x 2' greenhouse shelf.

Still got 2 BBHP's and 2 Cherry Wine hemp plants in the greenhouse to take cuttings. None are in good enough shape like that GDP to be moved outside and allowed to flower. Only kept them alive to take cuts. I can now make room in the hot box so I'll take half a dozen of each or more today.

Gotta keep the hemp going as I make a THC/CBD 2:1 sauve for my wife as she has neuropathy and this stuff really helps as well as caps of both, CBD for her as TCH makes her melt into stuff like chairs and couches🤣 I had to go and fetch her from a neighbors daughter baby shower and walk her home the first and last time she tried one of my THC caps. I like my caps, 2 before bed and I sleep through the night.

They're so cute at this age🤣

Ugly morning weather wise until about noonish means slow growing. We were supposed to have about 13:30 hrs sunlight today end of April and we'll hit 14:18 come June 20 and then it's back the other way to only 10 hrs on Dec 20. Growing outside and greenhouse gotta know the cycle.m😉

Getting crowded in the garden
20240430 160927

3 beef master tomato cuts rooted and planted in 3 gal soil. Got a lot of work planting and potting up with the rest although many of the cucumbers are backups. We love 'em so I'll find a place for 'em. Fun times😂

Jalapeno and serrano
20240430 160852

Looking great-it's the hot box😉

Cuts from yesterday looking as expected
20240430 155107

BBHP on the left Cherry Wine hemp on the right. Not bad only back on right is dropping. Took a bakers dozen of both and can take many more. Still gotta take some from GDP mama.

Another dozen and a half strawberries
20240430 170430

Tristar, non gmo (no msg either) We're getting about 1 1/2-2 dozen every other day.

Tristar - Quote "Loved by chefs for their sweet strawberry flavor, Tristar strawberries are also beautiful plants. Their attractive, notched leaves, white flowers and jewel-toned berries make them the best strawberry for hanging baskets. Easy-care plants are medium height and disease resistant. These plants are also day-neutral, which means a heavy crop in early spring, lighter crops in hot summer weather, and increased size berries in fall. Cold-hardy. Self-pollinating." Really glad I snagged these Spring of 22
