Oh and my worries about my seedling skills were unfounded, patience is a good thing. Came back to this:

Much better than usual. I also grew this in different soil than all previous stuff.

I think she might even be nearly ready to top? Another node maybe?

@Greenjourneyman
@BearWater
For what it's worth I usually wait to top the first time until there are 5 nodes and then top above the 3nd node. Just depends on the reason, what's the goal? Shorter plant? 2 equal tops, 4, 8, more? Gonna tie down the branches? Lots of reasons to top and plenty reasons not to. Personally I grow a lot of Christmas trees😉

EDIT: Regulars, yes? I'd stay away from topping autos.

Thanks for the pointers @PlumberSoCal2

The reason is solely because I've never done it before and would like to see and understand the effect on the plant and try my hand at it for future reference. That really is it.

I have heard that about autos before and I get the reasons why (short veg cycle etc) and this is an auto of course! I'll mull it over some more.

You in the SW? Im jealous

Nice looking buds dude, great work

Thanks man, appreciate that a lot. I'm trying my best and definitely learning each go round with good results. The new soil seems to be a winner. The Pinot #2 had it (bar a few bits). I know they're different phenos but the difference in yield and density is noticeable. Will be using that going forward.

And yes, SoCal FTW! 😉 🌴

It's so bloody hot now having to partially shade the plants outside. I need that Terraformer thing from ACI asap to start again in the tent.

So this isn't looking great on the outdoor lady. Leaf miners I assume?

Put some neem oil on last week which seems to have done absolutely nothing. From what I'm reading they're not that much of a problem but any and all advice very much accepted here.

Would the position of it under a tree be making this more of an issue maybe and should I just stick out in the sun directly? Probably too late now anyway.

You've got to expect the bugs growing outside😉 We can literally sterilize an area with weed killer, toxic insecticides and even with enough bleach but with a few to a dozen days it all starts to return so when we want to grow anything outside we have to expect these pests to show up and keep our plants protected as best we can as some of those bugs can carry viruses and transmit them to all your plants.

With all that said your intruder hopefully won't cause much stress to the plant. It's probably already laid eggs. You can even remove the leaf and put it in the trash. I wouldn't compost it. I throw those leaves into a bucket to burn. I doubt if it helps but it makes me feel better🤣

I use neem oil a lot and I'll see a stray aphid or two within a day of spraying sometimes. It's a never ending battle as you will come to find if you continue growing ANYTHING outdoors.

Once a week I spray them down, underside of leafs too with neem oil. If I see an aphid I'll spray spinosad that evening or next morning early (never spray in the heat of the day).

Bt is another needed insecticide that's pretty safe. It's a bacteria that are raised in large numbers and collected bottled and sold as they are toxic to many larvae insects like moth and butterfly caterpillars.

I have cabbage moth here and their larvae have destroyed whole plants by chewing off the flower stocks and filling the flowers with their excrement. I still loose about 5% to those bastards but that's a big difference.

Some plants suffer with PM and some strains are prone to have it so I use a Southern AG fungicide that helps as does neem oil.

You're killing this growing stuff, don't lose it to the bugs😉

I'm not promoting any picticular manufacturer but satisfied with those here. Do some research on each. Read all pros and cons and weigh what you find.

For me it was all the time and effort and not getting what I worked so hard to have but I don't wanna smoke Raid, call me crazy.

I'm loving the bud porn😉

And here are the outdoor ladies this morning.

Big bertha is the Pineapple Skunk (photo - my first ever!) from HSO, the one in flower is Crinkle Cut from Twisted Trees (looking after for a friend whilst away - she smells amazing, pure peach) and the new lady is the just transplanted HBSSxNCH (HubbaBubbaSmelloScope x Northern Cheese Haze freebie - I'm not typing that out again!) from Mephisto.

That should keep me busy for a month till we start in the tent again. 🙃

That is great info, thank you so much! Been sort of avoiding it but knew I had to look in to it some more for the sake of the ladies.

The PS seems to have calmed down a little but still hanging around and I know exactly what you mean about transmitting to others. I'll do some investigation and read up on the the ones you suggested (and others).

I'm also definitely not up for smoking RAID! 😄

I know right, whoTF comes up with these names?!

And the cross:

And yes, exactly that smell wise supposedly. Anyone walking past my garden is gonna be like what is going on in there with that Skunk as well. 😂

I got a GDP strain smells like grapes and berries. Blueberry Hash Plant that smells like Blueberries and a Cherry Wine hemp that is most apply named.

I really prefer these strains over the woodsie, earthie, or pine sents. I've got Sin City Juice growing which has supposedly a citris nose and Mother's Milk that's creamy and I have grown it before. I'll be breeding it in a few months.

The person (breeder) who makes the cross and registers the name gets to name the new hybrid.

Too many names today but the improvements like size, smell, vigor, the increase in the percentage of cannabolids and terpins the plant has come a long way since I was buying $25 ounces of Mexican seed weed😉

Oh absolutely on the naming, entirely up to the breeder of course. Just makes me chuckle.

Oh god, I remember those bricks...POP! 😳

We are so, so lucky these days, it's magical. 🤩
