i dont know about them portable ac's they scare me in sealed rooms! doesnt seem like there actually sealed...i like central air in my sealed rooms 3.5 tons will keep your room nice and cold with the co2 burner

thats cool for 4 buckets, I use one for 6 buckets, get some micro pore diffusers, I switched over to them and they are beautiful

a pondmaster ap-100 is only good for 4 bins? I thought it had slightly more output then the hiblow80 which is good for ten?

Hey bro,
I think either one of those light setups will give you great coverage.
Also I agree with going extra large on AC. I am running a 3.5 ton.
And It only cool's 6x 1000 watt barely , I am having to add another AC.

I agree most portable units aren't sealed but thats what the Kwikool company is about heres the link

How much more AC you going to add?

My 8000 watts in my room are broken up to, 5 are 1k watters and 5 are 600 watters i think the heat will be a little higher off that even though mathematically it should be the same so I am feeling comfortable with my 5 tons of cooling

The 5 tons will work great.
I just dont think you should try to go smaller on it.
And the issue I think you may run into is the 600's.
They put out 90% as much heat as a 1000 watter.
So it will almost be like you are running 10,000 watt's.
I have always heard 5,000 btu per 1000 watts.
So at 60,000 btu you will be OK.

I ended up venting 3 of my lights. So I am going to only need 1 more ton of AC.

Ordered buckets and quick disconnects they should arrive next week sometime so I can start putting those together. I decided with my space that I have to go with the 4 plant 5 Light setup that I had originally planned would work for me best, and stacking 600's and 1000's in weeks 4-7

Wow didn't figure it would be 90% the heat. Glad I am only running the 6's in weeks 4-7

Something is wrong with the a/c...

thats 7000btu per 1000k...Should be plenty...

Here are a couple pics I snapped while building frame work for the room nothing much but thought I'd throw them up. You can kind of check the spacing I'm going to start with, taped on the ground. Waiting on IR blocker to finish my ceiling with reflective.

BM, am i wrong or is 1 ton equal to 12,000 btu?

are you really having trouble cooling 6x 1000watt with 42,000 btu??

do have ANY insulation in your walls?

Looks clean and constructed professionally.

Whats your veg setup like?

I was actually about to buy a pondmaster ap-100 thinking it would be good for 14 bins but you guys running this pump say its only good for 7?

Is the rating on these pumps exagerated? The output of a highblo80 is less but good for 10 bins?

Im using One hiblo80 for 20 15 gallon bins. Its perfect.

Thanks Mike,
The wall you can see that has just been put up splits my Veg and flower rooms I keep a couple moms in Soil under a 400 Hortilux Blue, I clone into RW for this system (also experimenting with Rapid rooters and STG as well) with a T5 fixture and then once rooted I transplant into a Hugo block (6 inch cube) then under a 1k watt MH started about 4 feet above the top of my tallest clone left at that height for 3 days then slowly dropped as they can handle the more intense light.

I think if I use my AP-100 for 4 plants I will hook it up to a manifold where i can adjust pressure in the lines and leave a couple lines open so there is no back pressure to create heat.

My bad,
That was a misprint. My AC is actially a 2.5 ton.
And it is struggling to cool 3 vented 1000 watter's and 4 non vented 1000 watters.

I have some crappy imported 600's that are HOTTER than my Xtrasun 1000's - like - noticeably so just with the "back-of-the-palm" test.

My growroom w/ TWO Xtrasun 1000s and mag ballasts = 80 degrees. Add ONE digital ballasted 600 = 85 degrees. Bah.

Last cheapo internet lamp I buy.

I think it's 60,000 BTU's - 5tons x 12k/ton = 60K BTU's - this is fucking *enormous* - even if all the HPS's were turning every single input watt into heat - as opposed to producing alot of light as well - this will still overcool the room by at least a factor of two.

8kw * ~3.4 BTU/w = ~26000BTU's of output heat.

That looks alot better - but by lamps alone ur still under the capacity of that AC by a good 5000 - 10000 BTU's or so.

5,ooo bto per 1,000 watts.
Is the rule I have always followed.
witch would mean 40,000 btu to cool the lights.
At 2.5 tons I am only at 30,000 btu.
So I will add another 1 ton. Soon.

And a commonly cited one at that - not saying your wrong, just musing that by lamp-BTU output alone, this is way more than ya need.

Obviously I don't know the rest of ur grow/room/situation.

As it stands, what are your ambient room temps? Do you have a chiller/electric panels in the room? Anything else equipment-wise? Ballasts?

4000btu is the minimum, 3400btu from a 1000w is just a number, cooling that number is a different story. AC's dont run at 100% efficiency

the problem with a 5ton is it wont turn on that much, so you will need to get a bigger dehum because teh AC wont be taking water out of the room the same as if it was running often

Just an Update

Been working to finish completely sealing my room I'm about done with this and will have room pics later today.

I have decided on this AC: It is a 5 Ton unit with a water cooled compressor unit Which i am going to run with a 150 gal rez and a 1/2 hp chiller and a 1200 gph pump for water flow.

I am using a NG C02 gen so I will also need to extend a NG line about 15 feet so my flex line will reach the quick disconnect on that.

Just waiting on my bins and quick disconnects so I can build my buckets. I Still have got one wall to put up reflective on and finish sealing. Here are some rooms pics of the last few days:

Looking good man. At this rate, you will be running way before me. I will have to pick up the pace.
Diggin' the sink, too. I have one ready to go in my room as well. Kinda makes sense, when you already have the water and the drains already. I only have cold water in there, so I think that I will try to make the hot faucet hook up to my filtered line, so I can have tap or filtered in the basin, depending on what I am doing with it.
Keep up the good work,
