So, I finally fired up the MPBs. No leaks and we are ready to rumble. Fuckin long ass build out but room is super clean and I am hoping to master the art of RDWC and coco at the same time.

The coco was giving me trouble. I think I over fed on transplant, and got a problem with N, because my plants were getting the claw. I flushed with RO when I finally got my holding tank set up, and then gave them a light dose of Jacks hydro /Epsom/CaNO3. Now they are looking much better, and new growth is green and perky. I think they may also have had some lumen shock, going from a 600, to 1000's at only a couple feet away.

I am going to run the same mix (jacks) and same EC (1.1-1.5) on both the MPbs and the coco. It wont really be a comparison of any kind, since I will be running kosher kush and colombian land races in the coco, and tangerine dream in the MPBs.. but it will give me a little more hydro experience :banana1sv6:

So here are some pics to update (from left to right)

MPB

Res under floor

Kosher taking to the espallier

Tangerine ready for transfer

new bad ass plugs that I can control with a remote (makes hand watering RO with a pump and hose REAL easy)

Very impressive. How easy is it to clean up in between grows?

SB, good to have you here on this thread man. I have no idea how easy it will be, since this is the first run. I put in as many quick connects and bulkheads as possible, and connected all the drains with rubber couplers. I also have all the pipes attached to the frame via velcro, so I can move them as easily as possible.

Adding jacks now to 130 gal of RO. getting ready to drop some tangerines in there. Really scared. Hoping I don't regret not taking the advise of others who have run this system and failed. Looking to those who continue to run it successfully for inspiration.

This is a lot of plumbing. DIY UC looks way simple compared to this.

PLants are looking like I shocked the shit out of them. Like a houseplant that gets thrown outside in the middle of summer. All weepy and shit.

Quit yer whinin' BITCHES! Trimmed way back (topped all nodes), and waiting to see what happens.

Plants are doing really well, except for a little downward canoing. My temos are between 79-84, adn the AC brings my RH down to around 37-40, which I think is the problem. I ordered a humidifier today to get up to like 55-60 which is where I woudl rather be for veg.

Thinking abotu flipping soon.. The espalier is huge, and the MPBS... well I dont really know when is the best time to flip them, since this is my first time running the system, vert lighting, etc..

All the plants are being fed the same formula. jacks hydro/epsom salt/CaNO3 @1.6 EC.

Since I bumped up from 1.1 EC, the plants have started to look very healthy.

I was watering the coco 1x/ day by hand, but now I have auto drip set up to run every hour for 13 sec.

What a wild build great job.

I used 1/4" drip off of 1/2" poly. there are 3 t's pointing down in to the rock wool cube. Each plant site has a valve for flow adjustment

Love this idea thanks for sharing

I cut a hole in the top of the wall that connects the house attic to the garage. then, I vented through the ceiling.

If Im reading this right you are exhausting directly into the attic?
I have two thoughts. Wouldnt that cause mold to grow in your attic in the summer? Hot moist air being blown up there 12hrs a day? Dont know where you live but... In the winter wouldnt this cause the snow to melt off the roof of the house, compared to other houses in the neighborhood?

Great thread thanks for posting

Thanks GC. I am not using that drip configuration anymore. I use leadsleds top hat grommet and hard line idea with drippers on spikes and an 1800 GPH pump. It works a little better. You can see this in the DIY section.

The air blowing in to the attic. Its dry air, used to cool the AC. Its dry here and never snows.

I guess I will check for mold just to make sure, but I don't think the mold will grow in 40% RH. Also the attic space is vented all over and has a whirley gig.

SO...

I finally flipped.

And now I am scared. :sweating

See, at first these girls weren't doing much. My RH was at 40% (a little low for some I know)... and temps at 82. CO2. Maybe it was the lumen shock people talk about... I am not sure. I vegged em an extra week in the MPB.

Yesterday I changed the res. Today the plants look like they doubled in size. RH is at 60. It was like the twilight zone for me. I just stood there looking at them in disbelief. Never seen a plant grow so fast. Seriously. I check the pH- up .7 to 6.5... I check the EC... down .3... These girls are feasting.

So everything looks great. I am using hydro fungicide in my res @3 mL/ gal per res change. The new roots are white and filling the buckets. (old ones are looking better too).

Using jacks hydro/epsom/CaNO3. at 1.6 EC on both the coco and the MPB. They are all looking AWESOME

I think some of the espaliered plants are going to hit the ceiling. Since there is a cage there too for the lights, I think I will be able to tie them to the ceiling and have buds hanging down like clusters of grapes. Ill be prancin' and trampsin' through the garden then. Best part is I wont have to support them, since they will be supported by gravity. Upside down plants. I cant wait.

Update.

The plant on the left is the same one in the above picture (post 66) after 1 week. Roots are pearly white and plants are retardedly healthy. The tallest ones are about 4 feet, and the runts (there are 2) are 3 feet.

I just received my order of 100 yo yos from discount hyro (CAP)..

Should I wait until they are 21 days to defoliate, or should I start sooner? I have spent about 7 hours this week defoliating and removing small scraggle from the koshers and the colombians on the espalier. Lots of work, but really enjoyable.

Indeed look good..

I always gauge plucking leaves as to how much I need to grow. I use it to even out the plants with each other. I have dont it before the 21 day mark on some plants and it hasn't hurt anything.

great thread C! nice work.
where did you find the fence you used for your cages? 6" x 6" openings?

Kind of a funny story on that one...

Local home depot had a HUGE roll of it sitting in the fencing section. I was eyeballing it for like 3 months while I was building out. It didnt have a price on it, and it was still there when I needed to do my cages. When I went to scope it out, some employee had put a label on it that was for sure from another product, cuz that shit came out to 50 bucks. I even asked them to check the price since I felt bad, and they were like "just get it out of here"...

Plants are looking good man! How tall can they get from the top of the MPB to the ceiling mesh? How tall were they before flip? I was lucky enough to see the crazy growth spurts in the MPB before I shit the bed. I would already start plucking. I try to do it by the 21st day of flower at the latest. I trimmed up three trees last run. One at time of flip, the other two at 21 days. Not that I consider that one instance a proper test, but the one trimmed at flip was the high yielder out of the three. By the way, each one took me probably an hour to get it where I wanted it, hence the I would start already opinion. Keep up the good work. If you like, I have some jugs of HF you can have man. Just PM me.

TF,

At the flip they were only like 24". I thought they looked shitty. I made a MPB to hold 9 plants at once to try and cut a week off veg, and my chiller never came (FUCK GROW SMART HYDRO 4 LIFE), so the roots went shitty early and they were pretty stunted. They made a huge come back though, and all the roots are white, white, white. . They can grow to 6' before they hit the ceiling.

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for the advice. Im trying my hardest not to shit the bed, but just in case I have the coco plants in the same space to hedge my bets.

If you want to give me some HF, I would like to trade for the bennies I just imported. They're the equivalent of great white, except 300x the concentrate and WWAAYYYY less expensive. I also have a biological foliar pack that will kill pretty much all insects. If you are going organic at all, it would be a win win. I'll pm you.

Do you think the Jacks formula helped them to grow ok?

Im so nervous about Jacks in your MPB's!

MPB makes me nervous in general. Thats just me though. Your set up is pretty hardcore. Im very interested in the results.

24" at flip and 6' of height should be ok. I think that is really part of mastering the MPB, mastering the particular strain that you run in the system. DD's always talked about running one strain over and over to get it dialed in. More so than other growing styles. Yep, I am not really planning to use the HF with my coco, so as I said, you are welcome to it. I would be intrigued by the bennies and the foliar as well.

Looking great Capulator! Seems like the plants just needed more food for a while. Wonder why they took off at the rez change... Just fresh nutes, or higher feed level too?

Could have been just getting used to the 9k and getting their feet wet. Hard to pinpoint, but only 10 days and they went from about 24" x 14" to 48" x 36"...

hard to believe, but I seen it wif me own eyes.. I am scared shitless considerign they still have a week of stretch time.

@SB:

They are lovin the jacks. I may switch to DD's formula at week 4, but I havent decided yet...
